the myth of “living your purpose”

In the personal development and spirituality space, there is an age-old trope about “finding your purpose”. It’s billed as this elusive final destination -- the answer to all of life’s uncomfortable questions. The end-all solution that will be the answer to all of the problems you currently face.

For instance, if you’re unhappy in your 9-5 job, finding and living your purpose will make everything better. All of the groan-worthy aspects of current daily life will dissolve, and magic will ensue, imbuing the air with sparkles and possibility and a F*CK YES at all times.

I hate to tell you this, but finding and living your purpose won’t “fix” everything. Connecting with this elusive path doesn’t automatically make everything easier.

But it does make the difficult stuff feel worth it.

There are still contractions and difficulties and dark-night-of-the-soul moments when you are living your purpose.

In fact, there may be even more of them than before...

Because it turns out that living your purpose requires being seen in a whole new way. It requires a level of strength and courage and trust that the more frequented paths of life do not.

But the difference here is that the pain around your purpose feels worth it. There’s an undeniable sense that everything you are experiencing is aligned to something greater. There is a deeper meaning to it all.

And, if you are reading this, you will likely reach a point where you have no choice.

Where heeding the call of your deepest purpose is not just an option on the table, but a necessary and required next step.

You can try to ignore this call as long as you like, but I promise you, it will become unbearable, and eventually you will have to give into it. Your soul won’t put up with anything less any longer.

I have seen this time and time again with every one of my clients — your purpose will win every time.

This path is not for the faint of heart. Finding and following your purpose isn’t a magical escape from the problems you currently face.

It is without question the road less traveled, and it will require a level of bravery, commitment, and TRUST like you’ve never accessed before.

If you’re ready to take the journey, I invite you to check out my 1:1 coaching program, BECOMING. This is a 6-month transformational container where I will guide you through the process of finding and living your purpose. It is a challenging and confronting path, but it’s the only one worth taking. You don’t have to do it alone.
